About The Event

Ever wondered what counselling is really like — beyond the clichés and movie scenes? Join for a lighthearted, down-to-earth talk with a student counsellor, where we’ll bust some myths, share stories, and give you simple, practical tools you can use in everyday life. No jargon, no judgement — just real conversation (and maybe a laugh or two).
In the talk, we look at what counselling actually is, what is helpful and what is not and give some simple takeaways that you can maybe use at home. There is a quite fly-by of the main theories of counselling and why one approach might be better, or worse, than another.
Neil is a student counsellor in his third year of a Master's in Pluralistic Counselling programme at Abertay University.
