As the annual Spring Tidy Up had to be cancelled, the Community Council bought some litter picking equipment. 2 picker poles, 2 medium and 2 large hi-viz vests, bags and safety spec.

If you are going on a walk for exercise - government says you can once a day for up to an hour - why not take the chance to pick up some rubbish that others have thoughtlessly left here. I think it's true that if an area looks clean then people are less likely to drop their litter and of course the reverse is true.

You can borrow the equipment any time, assuming it's available by letting the Secretary of the Community Council (Neil Brooks) know by email giffordtownsecretary@gmail.com or by text 07938828589. He'll leave it out for you to collect and return. It will be sterilised and washed after each use.

The bags are very heavy duty. It is recommended that they can be used more than once unless they have been soiled. As the tip is closed, only pick up enough that will fit in your blue bin.

Good job Dave. What sort of sign did you have in mind?

Did part of the woodland walkway way tangential to Easter Kilwhiss road towards Edentown picked up mostly drinks cans, bottles and at least 10 poo bags with poo in them and just chucked on the ground or in a tree, why are minority of people so disgusting? Filled one bin bag and placed in bin at the hall. Do we think a sign might help?
