Carers Advice Project Fife - Email Received My name is Maureen Macpherson and I have been appointed Project lead for a new service covering Fife. As part of the award winning, Connect 2 Support team, Carers Advice Project Fife is being run by Deafblind Scotland in partnership, with Fife Health and Social Care. The purpose of the project is to provide specialist knowledge to carers, or the person they care for, with a sensory loss. This may be a visual or hearing loss, or both. The main aim is to ensure that carers, and their families, are accessing their rights and entitlements, using Inclusive Communication, which means that we will provide the service using the clients preferred communication method (Braille, Moon, BSL/Tactile BSL). This may be in the form of a ‘benefit check’, carried out by myself in the persons’ own home. This is to ensure that people are not missing out on benefits that they are entitled to. Also, we can refer people internally to various projects, such as our Health and Well-being project, that are being run within Deafblind Scotland, if eligibility criteria are met. We are keen to make people aware of ways to access services in their local area, to enable them to live a full and independent life within their local community. I am also keen to come along to community groups as well as meet with people individually to provide more information about the project. We can also provide Deafblind Awareness training. Please contact me for further information on 07950 936114 or via email at carersadvice@dbscotland.org.uk
