The Scottish Local Government Election takes place on 5th May 2022 and we urgently need people aged 18 and over from all walks of life who can undertake polling duties on the day in their area.
Vacancies are available for:-
Presiding Officers - who are responsible for making sure that voters can cast their vote in secret, free from influence and in a calm atmosphere (in St Andrews, Dairsie and Inverkeithing); and
Polling Clerks - who assist Presiding Officers in carrying out their duties (in St Andrews, Newport, Wormit, and Dysart, Dunfermline, Saline, etc).
You will receive a payment relevant to your role and full training so you are prepared for the job. It is a great opportunity to work as part of a team and have a sense of pride in doing your civic duty. If you like the work, the work you do this year will give you the necessary experience to fulfil a more senior Election role in the future.
Fee for Presiding Officer - £275 (£235 plus £40 training fee)
Fee for Poll Clerk - £200 (£160 plus £40 training fee)
Polling Day Staff should be at their stations by 6.00 am to set up and prepare the Polling Place, ensuring that the poll is ready to start punctually at 7.00 am. You must remain at the Polling Station until your ballot boxes are collected after the close of poll at 10:00 pm. You will not be allowed to leave the Polling Place during the poll so you should bring your own food and drinks or arrange for meals to be delivered. Facilities are generally available to make tea/coffee. You cannot drink alcohol or smoke within the polling place.
You will receive full details relating to your role with your appointment letter.
Please pass this on to anyone who you feel may be interested and ask them to contact election.enquiries@fife.gov.uk by 12 April 2022.
