DRAFT minutes of meeting - Monday 2nd May, 19:30 - Village Hall
1. Chair’s Welcome.
2. Present/Apologies: N. Brooks (Chair/Secretary), M. Sanders (Vice Chair/Treasurer), A. Christie, J. Wightman, D. Ellison, A. Emler, J. Kennett. Cllr A. Heer, Cllr Lothian. One member of the public also attended.
Apologies: S.Easson.
3. Minutes for meeting 7th March 2022 were approved.
4. Reports:
4.1 Treasurer’s Report: Bank balance stands at £7104.55. Three month projection: anticipated income in June from Wind turbine and FC grant combine to circa £3500, less expenditure of £1000 for Defibrillator and £200 for gazette gives a projection of £9400 funds by end of June. Full accounts prepared and with auditor.
4.2 Paths Working Group:
4.2.1 PWG meeting planned soon. Details TBA A.Christie
4.2.2 Landowners contacted re path from new quarry entrance towards railway. Positive discussions held. Needs liaison with FC Paths and Access officer. A.Christie
4.2.3 Imminent meeting with Lairds to progress quarry path diversion details. A.Christie
4.3 Speed reduction:
4.3.1 Due to data already collected, Telraam system to be ‘retired’ until further notice pending developments on speed control measures.
4.3.2 Despite initial encouraging news regarding new speed awareness signs, there is no progress. D.Ellison/J.Kennett
4.3.3 SpeedWatch training for PCLO to restart in May. Campaigns hopefully will recommence early summer once training rolled out to the communities. D.Ellison
5. Business arising from previous minutes:
5.1 Defibrillator. Free training set for Monday May 30th at 10am in the hall. All welcome. Secretary
5.2 Queen’s Jubilee. Tea party Sunday 5th June 2pm – 5pm. Hall Committee
5.3 Compost from recycling centre. Due to space constraints, this has now stopped. Will ask if we can access compost from other recycling centres. Secretary. John Kennett has horse manure available. Contact him directly for details. J.Kennett.
5.4 Community Resilience Planning. 20 page draft plan created and initial meeting held. Required contact information from those willing. Walkie Talkie license to be investigated. Next steps is to have second review meeting around mid May with a view to submit finalised plan to FC ASAP . D.Ellison
5.5 WhatsApp Groups. Growing in numbers. Giffordtown 9 up to 17, Edentown static at 4, Charlottetown 4 up to 5. This is for ease of communications of all kinds. Encourage your neighbours to join in. ALL
5.6 Trafalgar Junction Signage: No further actions required. Closed
6. New Business:
6.1 Community Engagement. Team established to investigate ways to encourage more engagement with CC activities. Chair/A.Christie
6.2 Roadside sweeping, blocked gullies and pavement to North of Charlottetown: Cllr Heer/Cllr Lothian
6.3 Support for Issue 3 of Gazette. Agreed circa £200. Secretary
6.4 Litter picking: Twice yearly scheme to tidy up area to restart. Lead person to be finalised.
6.5 NO MOW MAY: Encourage everyone to reduce grass mowing in May to encourage wildflowers. ALL
6.6 First Aid Training: St Andrew’s Ambulance carry out talks based on simple First Aid. Aim to book a session with them for late July. Secretary
6.7 Bulk Buy Logs. Investigate whether potentially large purchasing power of community could realise a cost reduction. Kingdom Firewood: Secretary. Tayforth Machinery ring and Stoveco: A.Emler
6.8 IBA Update. Next campaign July/August. Site visit for community representatives on Wednesday 25th May. Report next meeting: J.Sanders (co-opted member)
6.9 Landfill Site: Currently filling last cell. Establish proposed end date and what happens after: Secretary.
6.10 Power cuts: Recommended that if it is a frequent occurrence to keep a diary: ALL
